My Freelander KV6 has developed a rattling sound from the engine that is driving me insane! I had it at a Rover garage who diagnosed it as a sticking lifter but after an engine flush and additive, have now decided that the fault is the diaphragm in the intake manifold that is worn and is causing the rattle.
The rattle increases with the revs. They have informed me that one can not replace the butterfly(diaphragm) only but that I have to replace the entire intake manifold at huge expense. Is this true? or is there another way of getting around the problem? The rattle has not affected the performance, but is annoying to say the least. HELP PLEASE! ![]() |

yup needs an entire intake. common on those. gets worse after a while. plastic valves go bad in them and cause a few codes as well.
and trust me if the lifters go its more then likely an engine cause you end up taking apart half the motor for the replacement lifters. and that doesnt guarantee the motor wont cause the lifters to go again. not an easy job or cheap.
