With the gas ever rising we are considering the purchase of another vehicle that gets better gas milage. I was wondering about a few things though.
1. First what kind of milelage can I expect in a Freelander. 2. Also I'd like to know if they have a seating option that would allow for jump seats in the back like the Discovery. Any photos of the interior with this option (if available) would be great. 3. What years should I avoid? 4. What should I look for as far as hidden common problems. Thanks for reading!

I had an 03 SE3 which routinely did 19-20 around town and 23-24 MPG highway. I've never seen a 7 seat accessory in the US or GB and don't think it exists. The cargo area is a little shallow yet tall.
The 02's seemed to be most problematic, and as is typical for Land Rovers, the later models are usually the best bet. That being said though, prior maintenance is the key to a smart used purchase. Buy the one that has a FULL service history.

all the parts on an 02 are the same as an 05. same old crap and it will go bad. don't bother with a freelander.
