Default SRS Warning Light On!

Hi I am new to this forum. I own a 2003 V6 Freebie, since a few weeks ago, the SRS warning light came on by itself and has not gone off since. The car is running fine & I can't find anything wrong with it. Can anyone advise why its on and how I can turn it off, I did search the forum and found a thread saying that the computer was replaced to fix it, I am hoping that I don't have spend that money just to trun the light off.

Thanks, kin

It needs to be checked at a good Rover specialist or dealer. SRS faults can be serious problems... get it looked at by a competent shop ASAP.

The light is on for a reason - it needs to be checked out - hopefully it is just a computer code that can be reset but if the SRS has a fault it may be a safety issue.

Hi Kin, I have just purchased an 01 with the same issue, I was aware of it and got the car at a real knockdown price. If it is not a computer glitch (just a reset) then it will be the air bag control unit, located behind the heater controls under the dash. If you are willing to remove the dash (six hours labour as quote by LR) your can change the unit for one from a wreckers. Probably the cheapest option. Thats the way I plan to do mine
