Default Td4 ran out of deisel, now hard to start

Hi, Wife ran out of deisel in my 2001 Td4. now when we start it after sitting for a while it takes a couple of goes before it kicks over. Never used to do that, used to fire first go everytime.

I have had advice that it is all self bleeding etc, so not sure what I can do, any suggestions?

thanks
tim

If it is a self bleeding system, I would look at the fuel filter in case they sucked up alot of crud from the bottom of the tank.

The TD4 is a self priming engine, so you shouldn't need to worry about that. First suspect would be the fuel filter.

Cheers
