Hi,
After reading thread after thread all over the web about how bad Freelanders are I was curious if ANYONE has had a good experience with one? I'm specifically curious about the US V6 versions. If you have a Freelander I would be interested in hearing the following... ~ Year / Model / Miles ~ Your Avg MPG ~ Repairs I own a 05' SE3 and have 32k which I bought last Feb with no probs to date. Cheers, ~ Jeff |

I had a 2003 SE3 FL bought new in Dec 2003. I did 45,000 miles, only issues were an idiot light that needed to be reset (warranty, 100% drivable) and some minor trim issues (barely noticable, replaced under warranty). Other than that, had a great experience, got great MPG (19-24), and I sold it to a neighbor who has enjoyed it since. I probably would have kept it longer had I not been enticed by the LR2...

I have an 03' 5 door SE V6 Freelander with 69,000 miles. I would say I get about 18 miles to the gallon but I have spent more than enough money on repairs. Since my warranty has expired after 50,000 miles, I have spent over $2000 in repairs and $800 in upgrades. That is not including service and new tires. Despite all the problems I have had with it, I still think it's a great first car and it's easy to drive and park in the city yet rugged enough to go on some light off-roading trips.

Well...my LR Mechanic thinks they are terrible. I've seen lots of engine jobs done on them there. I was once at a gas station and a guy started a conversation with me when he saw my RRC. He said he has had his transmission replace on his Freelander twice in one year and he wanted to get rid of it.
Then recently I met a lady at my LR's mechanic's shop and she said it has been very reliable, she had 125k on it (all original parts), just electric issues, but she loves it. I drove one once and I did not find it very comfortable to drive.
