A new fault has just appeared on my KV6 ---HELP
whenever I accelerate there is a distinct shudder which I can feel on the steering wheel. If I take my foot off the petrol, the shudder dissapears. I have visibly checked the engine mountings and support bearings of the propshaft and they seem fine. Any ideas? Knowing the freelander I'm in for another expensive repair! ![]() |

can you feel it in the gas pedal as well.
if it is from 20 to 45 and it shakes alot its the inner cv joints. you can grab the front ones and rock them and if they move their bad. the rear ones have play in them but the fronts arent to have any. but if its around 45 and above and its in the steering wheel even cruising its the tires.

I had the drive shaft right behind the transmission have the front bearing go in it. The sensation was very similar. You should be able to climb under and wiggle the shaft side to side with a bit of play in it - if it is in fact the shaft.
Get it checked out as you don't want the vibes or things coming apart to cause more damage to other components - no matter what is causing the shakes.

2 grand for a propshaft unless you can get it rebuilt.
if you think its the propshaft pull the propshaft out and drive it for the vibration. yes you can drive them without the driveshaft. not long but yes you can do it.
