I don't know if i'm in the right place, but can anyone tell me if there is any way to turn off the abs, hill descent and traction control warning light. Even if only temporarily. We have heard that this may be an expensive problem, but if we could turn them off we could use the freelander as a reasonable trade in but as it is no-one will touch it.

If you can put up with some questions, I will try and answer your question. What year , model and mileage is your truck? What sort of driving were you doing when they came on, are they after market pads/rotors, do your brakes squeak alot, is there alot of brake dust on your wheels, were your brakes really hot when trying to stop and were you stopping on a rough surface when it happened? Get back to me, Mike |

A common reason for the "holy trinity" of warning lights is that a wire has become diconnected under the gearstick. It leads from the HDC switch. Your first course of action should be to investigate under the gearstick gaiter/plastic housing (easy to remove) and see if you can see a loose connection.
If not, you should take the vehicle to a LR service agent who will be able to plug it into a computer and run their diagnostic porogramme. This will give an error code that will describe why the warning lamps are lit. The ABS, HDC and TC are important safety features and an error with them shouldn't be brushed under the carpet. Cheers Blippie

need to diagnose, otherwise it will come back on.
freelanders are different then discos. they dont have the same issues with pads but they do have issues with wheel bearings internally going bad and some other technical issues. but otherwise they dont come on at all. its really rare.
