Default Weardale Steel

There was a foundry back in the late 80s called Weardale Steel. They made HUGE castings like sternpost for tankers, upwards of 30-35 tons. I wonder if they are still there. I couldn't believe the slope, and twists in the round going down to the village and that they could haul out by truck those huge castings. What an incredibly gorgeous piece of Gods Green Earth, those parts. BTW, are you an active ham, and if so, what bands do you frequent? 17M ? seems G land has a pipeline into east coast of US much of the time.
Cheers, and 73, Terry (K1EBS)

Weardale Steel are still around- they made the Angel of the North statue and the Gateshead Rotating Bridge. They are now owned by a company based in the Midlands.

Oh yes. I can't remember when I used the radio last. It's not very radioactive around here now.

Do any of you ever use the 70cm gateways?
