There was a foundry back in the late 80s called Weardale Steel. They made HUGE castings like sternpost for tankers, upwards of 30-35 tons. I wonder if they are still there. I couldn't believe the slope, and twists in the round going down to the village and that they could haul out by truck those huge castings. What an incredibly gorgeous piece of Gods Green Earth, those parts. BTW, are you an active ham, and if so, what bands do you frequent? 17M ? seems G land has a pipeline into east coast of US much of the time.

I am sometimes active on 2m and 70cm I should try to get the gateway working.
