Default 1976 Land Rover 109" Safari Diesel for sale (D.C.)

This is a 1976 Land Rover Series III Diesel(109" wheel span) Safari Model.

It is the elusive 5 door, safari model, with everything intact, Upgraded seats to the later Defender style seats, which makes it relatively comfortable.

Everything is operational, no defects, no nothing, it starts and runs every time, time and time again. It is also the highly sought after Safari diesel model, so mpg return is inching towards the 30 mpg, and you can bet that you will be one of a handful within a radius of maybe a thousand miles which has one of these.

(A full recon of the motor was done at a cost of 3000+ USD)

VIRGINIA TITLE, so you can actually register the car and DRIVE IT!

Besides the reconditioned engine it has new glow plugs, wiring, exhaust, etc.. etc... etc...

On a down note, it will not go much faster than 60MPH even though it does come with the famous overdrive system. However, it will get you to where you are going time after time after time again and again!!!

16,xxx miles are to be read on the odometer although undoubtedly this incorrect. I am sure it has turned the clock once already, like all these cars have. If you are interested in a car like this, do not let someone fool you that it only has 88xxx or 56xxx original miles!

Please understand that the car is not pristine, it has the usual rust in the usual places, and dings in places which adds character! However this is easily removed as parts for this car are both CHEAP and they bolt in place or out of place in a matter of minutes! Trust when i say that this will be the cheapest fixable car you have ever owned!

Thank you kindly.

Why do people insist on trying to sell something without a price?

Hi guys i know lots of emails regarding the asking price... I have it listed locally for $8900. Quite reasonable for an unrestored truck.

What is a safari model? Station Wagons were fitted with a "Safari Roof" which consisted of a second roof skin fitted on top of the vehicle. This kept the interior cool in hot weather and reduced condensation in cold weather. Vents fitted in the roof allowed added ventilation to the interior. While they were based on the same chassis and drivetrains as the standard vehicles, Station Wagons carried different chassis numbers, special badging, and were advertised in separate brochures.

Hi there! My name is Darrin and I'm writing you from Dartmouth, Massachusetts. I am interested in buying your SIII 109, and would like to discuss this with you.

Could you please call me at: 508-496-0242

If you happen to get my voice mail, PLEASE leave a message with your number if that's OK with you, as I am not a "tire kicker". I have the cash on hand and I am looking to buy a Series III ASAP. I have driven to DC several times and could be there almost anytime that would be convenient for you to see the Rover and make the purchase. Of course the miracle of GPS helps alot too, so getting together with you will not be a problem.

You have posted a pretty honest assesment of the truck online. Would you foresee any problem in it being driven at 60ish MPH for the 440 miles back to Mass from DC?

Anyway, please do call. It is Friday, 14 August at 11:35 and I will be available all day today and will of course take your call any other time to discuss this further.

Thanks
Darrin
