I have a 1996 SE7 that I will probably end up parting out, but figured I would toss is up here as a complete vehicle in the chance that someone wants it.
It is actually pretty solid, silver truck with the GREY interior (which IMO is MUCH nicer than the tan.) It has the 5spd trans and shifts like butter. The clutch is strong and the diff lock/low range work great. Air was ice cold, all windows work, cruise work, etc. The bad: The engine has one or prehaps a few dropped cylinder sleeves. It was making a knock noise for a while and finally locked up. I am guessing that the sleeve dropped enough to grab the piston and stop it. It was a strangely-smooth lockup, happened at low revs shifting from first to second. The windshield has a small crack at the top, still passed inspection even with it but the glass should be replaced. Seats have seen better days. The stitching on the drivers seat has come apart. There are no tears anywhere, but they could all use a re-dye. Actually all the electronics work very well except for the front sunroof which will get hung up while closing and require a push and the power seats which will both require new switches. There is rust in the usual spot in the rear door seam. The pass side just has a small bubble, (actually better shape then most I have seen) but the drivers side actually has a hole. The hood has some scratches on it. The pass side front turn signal lens is broken. I just bought this truck and was driving it around until the engine locked up. Other than the knock in the engine, it really drove well around the backyard (in low range and locked) as well as at highway speed. As said I will probably end up parting it out, if someone wants to save me the headache, I will take what I have into it which is about $2,000. I know the 5spd adds some value. Truck is located in Keeseville, NY. 2 hours north of Albany, 1.5 hours south of Montreal, a short ferry ride across the lake from Burlington, VT. I am pretty firm on the $2,000 since I would make A LOT more if I end up parting it. The 5spd stuff alone should bring a decent figure. I can take pictures for anyone who is interested. trwright@gmail.com 404-429-4585 |

Parting it is the only way, unfortunately. The gear box is worth a good bit since they are expensive to fix and there are a lot out there with problems- and looking for a cheaper fix than a rebuild. The problem is that replacing the engine-even with a used one- exceeds the value of the truck. It would have to be one of those "do it cause you love it" kinda things. That would make a GREAT trail rig...

Well, if you do end up parting her out, I could use that rear ladder and one of the AC lines in the engine bay...
