My thoughts: KBB overvalues cars, so dealers use KBB as a reference when they sell you a car. Actual NADA book which is more accurate puts that truck at $6200 or so.
It's in beautiful shape and most "non-Rover" people would assume it's worth a LOT more than it is and you can use that to your advantage. They have more curb appeal than most vehicles and there's no reason you can't get your original asking price- but not from people who follow Rover web sites etc. They know the values are low and lots of people sell stuff cheap within the Rover community. Look outside that community and it'll sell for a premium.
And drop the "$1500 brush bar" thing- it hurts credibility. Those brush bars go for less than half that. This morning I talked to a dealer who was selling them for $518.
Great looking truck!

KBB does overvalue the Discovery indeed. However, finding a Land Rover within 200 miles of my city for less than 8.000 is next to impossible. There are no dealerships that carry them nor are there many around...they're rare here, hence my slightly higher asking price.

I've got it on cars.com as well as my local newspapers, so we'll see how it turns out. I threw it on here as well for the sake of trying.

Thanks -

You'll get your asking price- The best thing to do is park it on a busy road with a for sale sign. That truck has 'curb appeal' and will snag a new buyer easily. Good luck with it!

7k is high end, but I think it's a good starting point. It gives you a little haggle room. But, if someone offered you >6300.00, I'd take it, IMO.

I sold a 1999 D1 with less miles, and better condition for 6900.00 not too long ago. I may have been able to get a few more dollars out of it, but I needed to sell it quick so my now ex-wife could not claim it....
