Default F/S 1996 Discovery SE

Up on the market, for a second time, is my 1996 Discovery SE. It WAS slightly modified. The engine is in mechanically great condition and the clock is about to hit 152K. The interior can use some TLC but compared to alot of other Disco's of the same age, its doing well!

You Get:
  • 245/75/16 BFG M/Ts with a good amount of tread left
  • Land Rover HD Springs with OME Shocks
  • GBR Front Drive Shaft
  • RTE Brake Lines (not installed)
  • IPF HD Wiring Harness for the headlights (BIG improvement on light output)
  • Water-Proofed ECU (Tested)
  • Front Left Wing is ready to accept a Mantec Snorkel
  • Laptop Mount

The not so good things:
  • Dash Bezel needs to be replaced ( what D1 DOESNT have a broken dash bezel?)
  • Saggy Headliner
  • Sealed front Sunroof and rear wont open all the way
  • Alternator is on its way out
  • Ball joint needs to be replaced
  • Front swivels need to be resealed
  • Radio doesnt work
  • AC and Heater only work on speed 1
  • Door lock actuators on Drivers side and cargo door wont allow the doors to open so you need to use the key (or for the rear drivers side door - hold the lock up while you pull on the door handle - another D1 common problem)
  • Bad Cats and burnt 02 Sensors
  • battle scars and faded paint on hood and roof

The truck really does run great and will make a great starting point for anyone wanting an off-roader. Its been my daily driver and weekend warrior and the times ive been stranded, I could have prevented.

I'll have pics tomorrow after a good clean-down

Asking $2500.00

Located in Lawrenceville, GA 30043

I can be contacted via email: jc.alvarez@live.com or on my cell: 786-280-0119

PS. PLEASE dont question my decision...lol...I've got a plan that I want to follow through with.

Ok, I went out and snapped a few. Since its dark out, they suck...but so you get an idea.

Also noted a few of the things I missed to put in the initial post...

The windshield has a little nick in it.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...1/P1010126.jpg

After removing the seat covers that I had on there for over two years, I discovered that the passenger seat leater has torn at one seam, which is weird since I barely ever have passengers and my driver's seat seams are still alright.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...1/P1010123.jpg

The ONLY Rust found on the truck is located at the front lower corners of the alpine windows...
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...1/P1010130.jpg
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...1/P1010129.jpg

I've had the ABS system disengaged due to weird reactions so I dont know if its just a dirty sensor or the actuator. Forgot to mention its got DBA Rotors with plenty of life in them...last I measured, they were at 12.9...must have been like two months ago. And I think last but not least, the hood latch handle broke, so I've been using pliers to pull on whats left of the handle.

Here are the rest of the pics...keep in mind, I havent been able to clean it due to the water restriction we have in GA...and I dont like having it cleaned by others.

So now that the truck is just about Sold, I'll let you guys in on my plan.

I'm getting a Mini. I'm driving anywhere from 70-80 miles a day and putting out up to 540 dollars a month on gas. With the payment on the Mini, insurance AND my gas bill COMBINED, I'll be saving about 200 dollars.

So should the gentleman like it, it should be gone by 2pm tomorrow and I will be owning yet another british vehicle by tomorrow evening

Well, since you asked. I won't question your decision. I'll just question your sanity! Why didn't you just buy the Mini I had bought for Shawn, when I sold it? Then you would've had an "S", with 12k miles. LMAO! You can't go wrong with a Mini. Unless, of course, you buy it for somebody that doesn't appreciate it. So, you better appreciate it, since you're buying it for you.

Get the "S", you won't regret it. If you buy a normal mini, you'll only drive it for a month before you wish you had gotten the "S". Enjoy it, little brother.

Did you lease? Because I know you. And you're going to trade it in for an "S" within a year, if you bought and didn't lease. Well, maybe not. Considering you're half my weight; you might not need the extra power. LMAO!

Hey I didn't see your dad at the boat show. I looked for him. Did he go this year. I thought about giving him a call. But figured he was probably already busy. He's such a busy guy. The darned valet parked the Tundra next to a new Murcielagro. I looked at him, when he gave me the keys and said :right color, wrong car". He actually took a double take on the key fob, to check the ticket number. I couldn't help but start rolling, because I had three other people with me. Where did he think I was going to put them?

That's what I get for not reading EVERY post. I wouldn't get an 08' "S" either. I hate turbocharging, unless it comes from the factory at Porsche. I drove the 08 "S" when it came out, and even though the turbo lag ain't bad, it's still no supercharger. The 02-06's are much more fun on the twisties.

Your still keeping the SIIa right?

Those Mini's are great, too bad i cant talk my wife into getting one. She doesnt want to have to deal with moving the seats when my kids are visiting.

That doenst make a lot of sense to me either, especially since she drives the Disco..... Women.

Plus she thinks its a chicks car, i love them. Have since i test drove one in 04.

Buy the "S", you know you want to...

Yep. When Shawn told me she wanted one, I told her no problem, but we had to get an "S". She just gave me "that" look. But when I called and told her I had bought it for her, she couldn't believe it. My suggestion, Gunny, is buy it. Put a bow on it, and give it to her on some special day. She'll drive it out of guilt, and after a couple of weeks, she'll want to keep it. Those cars are addictive.

I want to get her to at least drive one, but the nearest dealer is 5 hours away in Charlotte.

Gunny...yeah, the Series is stayin. And since its a ground up project (i get really attached), only God and a Natural Disaster can come between me and the Series.

Nah, the point of getting this Mini is to save a few bucks. I ONLY need it to drive to and from work...when the Series is done, I'll even use it for dates...lol

Did you at least sell the Marlin to an enthusiast owner?? I got all excited when you said Mini, not so much when I found out it was a new one. I was hoping for a classic. If there were more roads here I'd have my 76 1275 Cooper S clone up here in a heartbeat.

Yeah, its going to the son of an enthusiast, so It will be properly cared for in a home with multiple rovers. So it cant be said that the Marlin will once again continue an enthusiasm streak!
