Default to trade: 255/70 MTs for 235/85 or 265/75

Hello, I'm looking to trade my almost new 255/70R16 durango MTs (same as futura enforcer, made by cooper in USA) for some bigger tires. They are about 30.2" tall and work well with 0-2" lifts. I have 5 on the D90 style alloys and steel spare in mint condition. I would consider trading tires only or complete with wheels (which is easier).

Thanks, Dave

I'm in western Mass. near Albany, NY

I am not interested in the tires but I do have an almost new set of cooper Discover ST tires sized 235/85-16 on Black NATO wheels (5) in Albany, NY.

I am getting a new diesel and want to go up to a taller tire to help my gearing, maybe a cash plus your alloys deal?

That's a tempting offer Kevin, but I don't want to go with the NATO wheels because of the weight (I have stock axles and gearing). I may be intereted in the tires only, but I'm sure you don't want to break up such a nice set.

I assure you your concerns over the weight are misplaced. I wheeled with these on 10 spline axles. This for a DiscoI? I could possibly break them up.

Right, so you don't think the extra weight is a problem for stock D1 axles? I realize that defenders run the same axles and wolf wheels with this size tire, but they way less than discos. I know the weight issue isn't really relevant on a rover. How old are the coopers and how's the tread? Are the wheels fairly clean as well? How much of a price difference are you thinking?

Dave,

I know guys running the 35's with stock axles, as long as you are not locked they are fine. If you do get lockers then you are going to get HD axles anyway and are still fine. I bought these tires and rims in January of 2006 new. They are 1 of 2 sets of tires and wheels I use on the truck which has also been off the road for upgrades for 7 months of that time, tread wise they are basically new. A couple of the wheels have scratches around the edges of course but being black steels can look brand new with a can of spray paint. They do amazingly well offroad. My other set of wheels are beadlocks with bias swampers so that set gets the real abuse. Paid about 1100 for the whole setup. How about your wheels, you keep the tires and get to sell them, plus 700.

Pic is them brand new

Their a bit newer and more expensive than I thought. If I was sold on having NATO wheels I would probably do it.

Thanks for trying to help me out here.

I could break them up as I am sure someone would want the Natos, if you are still interested in the tires for 500 let me know.

I'm going to hold off for now because I'm not sure, so don't hold back on selling them. I think I'm going to use what I have and get a winch, unless a trade comes along. Your series truck looks great in the Old Florida Rd pics. I've got to try it some day when the discos ready.
