So I spent the weekend (like usual) out in tuskegee national forest.
Friday= While out there I get a call that a "red truck" is stuck in a spot which even a 2wd toyota prius can drive through normally...Well little did I know it was a loud redneck rigged lifted 1989 Bronco that had driven by me just minutes before. I had 2 of my buddies in the car with me (I was the DD) and all of the passengers and DRIVER of the bronco had been drinking all day. I got to the spot, the other driver hooked up my tow strap to his leaf spring/frame since he didnt have ANY (no front or rear) recovery points. I told the guy to just let me pull him out nice and easy on my own power and everyone would be safe and fine....well apparently he didnt get the memo and as I was pulling him he decides to gun it in reverse low-gear. I see him flying at my in my rear view and give my rover a bit more gas to get out of his way even though I was still attached. I'm praying he stops....well luckily retarded driving skills made him hit a tree which stopped him in his tracks. after he pulls forward off the tree, he tells me my strap is stuck and I will have to follow him into town to get to an ATM so he can pay me for the strap. Well his truck is stuck in low gear so it takes 3 hours to get back into town...we get there I take a second look at the strap and it takes less than 2 seconds to get off. It made for a long night but my god was it a funny event.
Well onto saturday morning. Michael aka Michaels gives me a call that he needs my code reader out in tuskegee for a Mitsu Galant rental car that bumped a small stump and caused the motor to not get fuel. it turned out to only a bunch of blow fuses and a damaged 02 sensor. While on the way to the galant we ran across a newish Xterra that was stuck. We offered our services to pull the fellow AU students out, Michael jumped on the opportunity to use his winch....
Holy crap... I thought you were going to pull that bronco into the next county...
I was BARELY pulling him. he was FLOORING it in reverse. I just kept going at idle speed in order to avoid this dumbass from running over the tow strap or hitting me....trust me I've had more difficult tows from a 2wd Mazda pick up in 6" of sugar sand back in florida. this guy just took the cake for the most retarded recovery moment i've ever been a part of.
LOL... no telling what he was drinking/smoking or whatever. Glad he didn't hit your truck!
no he wasnt smoking anything. he was drinking. so were all of his passengers. On the several hour long, 15 mph Low-gear ride home following his bronco I saw the passengers reach back into the coolers and grab/drink/toss nearly a 24 pack of beer. Then we had to stop and wait while all of those guys took a 20 minute piss break lol
haha um so the Bronco driver finally replied on the AU rock crawler site. he edited his post several times and all he had to say was "I wasn't drunk, I was just tweaking". a real winner!
