Default Canadian Rovering

I went wheeling yesterday, and took a few photos and some footage, Including a hilarious blunder in my Land Rover.

I was the only Land Rover present today. A Series III that was supposed to go, couldn't make it.

Heres some photos:

Included in our group was:
A Jeep TJ
A bronco II of somekind
1985 Mercedes G-Wagon
2 Toyota Hilux Surf's in various configurations, both diesel and RHD
A first Generation Pathfinder
A STOCK, Brand New GMC Jimmy

As well as a couple other trucks that came and went

And of course, the video that I quickly compiled of the first part of our day.

Video of Part 1 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

All in all, it was a fabulous day. It took us over an hour to do the first trail, and over 2 hours to round trip to the falls. The snow was well beaten in most spots because the FJ Cruiser club was there the day before. After the fact, someone had mentioned we could have driven the whole river to the falls and saved about an hour. This realization irritated alot of people as we were loosing sunlight fast behind the shadow of the mountains.

I wish I could have gotten more footage of my land rover, but I was driving and my camera guy bailed on me in the morning.

Carlos bought it straight from Germany. I like it alot, its the closest to a 90 I see around here and he wheels it like every weekend. Its only modification is 30x8.50R15 BFG Mud Terrains, and Chains.

The Area is really nice this time of year. Unfourtunately, its very difficult to get to the falls in the spring/summer, because its essentially a bog.

I was disappointed because my camera filled up. On the way to the falls, there was a section of VERY DEEP SNOW and ruts that went left to right repeatedly. It was the closest to camel trophy I been. I nailed it in 2nd Low and went up on 2 wheels twice. It was F-ing Awesome.

haha nice. There was a guy locally that we saw come into the Landy Dealership with an 05 or 06 G-wagon covered in dirt...a little bit too new and too expensive to wheel in my opinion lol.

Nice trip, and some wonderful shots. Nice eclectic group of trucks, with a little bit of everything. Good to see a bunch of diferent owners getting together, and just wheeling.

I've been part of the tread lightly campaign up here for awhile. Over the last few years, we've seen all sorts of crowds come through and destroy pretty well everything.

The place pictured in those photos was literally a land of almost 300 trails. A few years ago, it was reduced to just 4. Another off-road area was closed, and the 3rd of 3 big areas, is next on the chopping block for 'restructuring'.

We've fought long and hard, and put many hours of labour into trail maintenance, but now were just beginning to see a change for the better.
