Cool Daytrip to Moonrock, NV <w/ pics>

We (JP Castel- the jeeper, and I) took a day trip to Moonrock, NV today. Moonrock has a ton of dirt & sand trails and volcanic rock formations, many which you an climb over and through. There were a ton of ATVs and dirt bikes all over, and some seemed suprised that we were taking vehicles where it seemed only bikes could go or even dared to tread. The rover is no rock climber, so I left that stuff to the jeep; though I did attempt it. We took all the pics when were were stopped, since I was taking majority of the pictures but driving too, we sadly didnt get many trail action pics, but cool stuff nonetheless. We took 3 friends along and had a great time.

thanks guys, ive been using my new Nikon D50. I think it was a great investment!! We will probably take tons of pictures of every trip we take.....we took 194 this trip, high ratio of crappy ones to good ones, but thats how it always is.

I want your Nikon! So crisp. That ratio should be much higher. If those few are the only good ones out of 194, that's not too great. haha. It's so easy to just shoot and shoot not taking your time to think about composition with digital. Those look good though! Looks like a good trail.

I'd buy a DSLR if I hadn't just invested 3k in a camcorder...

neither... DVX100b. The XL2 and DVX are very similar, but I find the DVX's picture to be superior. XL2 is nice due to interchangeable lenses, but the other lenses are so expensive, I'd never upgrade anyway.

Haha, no, the ratio isnt that low. There are maybe 30-40 good ones, but i only posted these because they were pretty diverse. The majority of the pictures that I took are doubles; two pictures of the same thing.....to have a better chance of getting one good one. Also when I gave the camera to my friends they fired away but many of them were of the same thing or crappy. We did take that many pictures though....but to post that many would be a pain and not necessary.
