Default Google Earth as a scouting tool!

Hello everyone. I was just replying to Army Rover about a set of trails in E. Merrimack, NH when I thought to myself that GoogleEarth would be a perfect way for him to see the trails for himself. I'm sure many of you use the downloadable program already, but how many don't? it enables you to type in an address or a city, town, or area and see it from space or zoom in for a close look. it can be found and downloaded to your computer at Google Earth. just figured it was worth mentioning if you are in search of new play grounds!!! GO ROVERS !!! the colonel

Doh!! I've had GoogleEarth on my computer for over a year and didn't think to use it like that. Thanks for the heads-up.

Also, the one with the best (my opinion) and most recent aerial images is the MSN Map service.

The existance of a trail tells you nothing of it's legality of course. State GIS maps are a better source.

Been using Google Earth for a year or so now and it proved very very helpful when we visited the confluence point N19 E52 last Christmas.

We planned out route through the dunes perfectly, wish I had used it 8 months previously when we did N19 E53, I could have found an easy way, hey you live and learn

i used to use google earth to find straight roads for street racing a few years ago. now that my interests and vehicle has changed i use it everytime i go offroading. i find a trail, check it out, if its legal i'll drive it.

Use it all the time for work and play. Its nice to have.

One of the GPS guys makes a hand held that displays maps you can get off of Google or MSN (i cant remember which) and shows your position associated with the map

I want it.
