Offroading in Bay Area

I have a '94 Disco that I've owned since '97 and its still going strong (most of the time) at 125k miles but it has never really been offroad. Thats a problem I would like to fix. Is there any good introductory groups in SF area that go offroading on the weekend that aren't too insane, just a nice romp, maybe bring my 6 yo son along for the fun.
