Went out this last weekend to a Miami Valley Land Rover Society event held at one of the members farm around the Dayton, Ohio area. Had a blast although the heat was terrible. Showed up Saturday and set up camp. Then I headed out on to the trails with at least eighteen other trucks! It was great! Trails were a lot of fun, nothing too challenging because for the most part they were set up for a customer day from the LR dealer in Dayton that was going on there the next day. Although there were some awesome hillclimbs and mud pits on the back part of the huge piece of property, the trails still were plenty of fun. The biggest part was just getting to meet some other LR people and see some other LRs out on some trails that was great. Had a huge bonfire Sat. night along with some fireworks, food and plenty of beer!! Now I am really interested in seeing what MAR is like! Oh there was also a guy that drove down from Canada in his totally kitted out Freelander!!!! Great group of people I had the pleasure of meeting this weekend, can't wait until the next event!

Great photo's, looks like ya'll had a great time.
Since moving to this wonderful state We have not had a chance to run with any LR owners. (Heck we only see a couple a day on the road.)The local LR dealer doesn't have outings, (they just put in the new test track last month) I hate to impose but if ya'll have room on a future trip (PZ shoot us a message) we would love to join in, and are willing to drive a few hours to meet. In the pic of the green D2 stuck in the mud pit, I just noticed my legs sticking out of the passenger side. I had my feet on dry land and was laying across the brush guard reaching down to hook to the recovery point (which was TOTALLY buried in the slop). That stuff was like quicksand at that point. As fast as I tried to clear the mud away, It would come back in. Just had to feel for the recovery point. A few times, I thought I was going to fall in head first!!! Blake, you should have seen the s@#t flying when you tore through there! ![]()

I am just glad I made it through there, by that time it was just you and me on that part of the trail... it would have been Memorial day all over again if I got stuck!
You tugging me out!Oh and I had to get the pic of you under your truck switching on the diff lock! Especially after you burned the hell out of your arm Sat. night! It was good seeing you guys again, hopefully it won't be so long until the next time. |
