Currently it looks like we have a possible Disco and Range attending, anyone else in the area is welcome to come. We are meeting up at the Eldorado Outpost at 0700 hours. If that is too early for some let us know when you will be making it out and we will arrange a way to meet up. Other vehicles attending will be some Montero/Raiders and a Jeep possibly so we will have a nice little group wheeling. Plan is to wheel till early-mid afternoon. Any of the trails except Daniel will be up for riding. Daniel is an all morning/afternoon trail ride in itself, last time we spent 4 hours just on the ledge of Daniel so its not a good idea for just a day trip. If you are planning on going PM me also and I will get you my cell.
7 it's supposed to be a fun weekend. guess i'm in though, haha.
don't complain. the early bird gets the worm.
or should i say the early 4x4 gets the trail he wants.
if i go i'll drive the night before camp it and then be up by sunrise (which is in the 5oclock hour). . a fun weekend requires some legwork and teh sacrifice of some sleep!
yes a stock rover will survive...
looks like i will be camping out as well i have this rule that i refuse to leave my house any earier than 6:30am haha. that i follow with the strictest adhereance.
About camping, there is a slight chance I will camp overnight so I don't have to get up around 4:30am to get out there at 7am. If you want a campsite with electricity there are a good number left at the Arrowhead Campgrounds. Or you can do primitive camping for free. You can make reservations here:
If you have any issues while you are there talk with Janet the campground host. And a stock truck should be fine at Uwharrie, I just don't know about driving all the way from IL to NC to wheel. If so, more power to you.
For those using mapquest/google maps here is the info on the Eldorado Outpost (5 minutes or so from the trails and the Arrowhead campgrounds):
Unless you have a season pass you will need to stop in there anyway and get your day pass ($5), and they will give you a trail map also (if not just ask for one).
A big part of getting out there early is beating the heat. Some of us dont' have a/c in our trucks so we don't have that luxury. Not to mention usually wheel with the windows down anyway (well at least I do so I can stick my head out to spot myself). If you are going a good idea is to post up a picture of your truck. So we know what to look out for. I will start off with a picture of mine:
i wouldn't be to sad. grove park is beautiful. and autocross should be a blast. i'm thinking about building a car and doing some rallycross and some real rallys or... getting an old d1 and making a wannabe camel trophy truck

tough choices man, tough choices.
