Had a trip on today. On the way to the meeting place I hit a deer at 50mph. This thing was as big as a horse and was about a foot higher than the top of the bull bar. Broke the driving lights and dented the grill. Maybe some damage to the mounting brackets. The deer had a broken back/neck and we could not get in contact anyone that seemed interested and coming an putting it down. Had to leave it in the end and continue on.
Got to the meeting place about 15 minutes late and headed off to the first track. Got 50 metres up the track and snapped a final drive. Backed down the track and let some others go ahead while I fixed it. Usually a five minute job to replace, but the broken section had jammed itself in the CV and would not come out using the magnet. So had to strip the hub right down and and knock the broken bit out of the CV. This track was about 500 metres long and after two hours we still only had 2 vehicles to the top. It took nearly 4 hours to get the six vehicles up this first section. The next section was more wet clay, but had a few reasonable size rocks spread around to add interest. Managed to knock in the front guard against the banks on the side of the track. Caved in the back quarter panel on a large rock that decided to move itself behind my wheel in a rut. Also put a bit of a dent in to the steering protection bash plate. After battling the way up this section of the track, the person in front had parked their vehicle in the middle of the track. They were on relatively flat ground, I was not. When time came to move, I could not get going. Simexes down to 10 psi and front and rear lockers did not provide enough grip. After a lot of stuffing around, I finally got going again with the motor sitting at 5,000rpm for a long time, the water temp gauge hitting 120C and the oil temp gauge maxing out. The motor is now not running right. Got home and looked underneath to find that the transfer case is spewing out oil. Great Day..............NOT!. Should have stayed in bed. |

Sounds like my kind of luck. I just got mine running again and need to take it on it's second test drive to check it out since the IP was leaking Diesel on the first one and had to be pulled and re-sealed. Good luck getting it all sorted, hopefully it's nothing too bad.
