Default tire rubbing?!?

I was under the impression that 245/75/16 tire would only rub in the front on a disco 2. I have an 03 disco 2 and I got some 16's and a set of 245/75r16 destination M/Ts. i then trimmed the front bumper and folded my inner wheel wells to stop the front end rubbing. every thing was great up until i went off road where the back is all most all ways rubbing!! i have some nice cut marks in my rear tires now that are about 2 inches from the top of the tire! i know i need a lift but has any one else encountered this? Are they too big? maybe i am going too far off road? Are my trails pushing the limits too far? I have this thing where the trails i choose have a lot of particularly precarious parts to them (i have been on two wheel several times both drivers side wheels off the ground with drivers door open for more weight to keep from tipping over and with drivers front and pass rear full hang with about a foot under both or two under one). the best part is i have no lockers or CDL! nor am i going fast...
I do recommend staying away from the situations where to have Both side wheels off the ground, it is very scary and difficult to navigate thankfully i only had to endure a few feet of it.

Well, Id say if your rubbing like you stated.... Your tires are obviously too big. No need to ask that question. Go have a 3 inch lift put on and youll be good.

Im running 265/75s under my DI and have a 2 1/2 lift on mine. No rubbing besides when I cut my wheel all the way over to the right.

I was running 265/75/16's with no lift, and only trimming the front air dam. Full articulation would rub slightly, just slightly, and never damaged the tires. Went to a 2" RTE lift, and no rub anywhere, even under full articulation. You are pushing your truck too far, for what you have done to it.

245's shouldn't rub at all on a D2, how many miles on your suspension. I have a number of friend running different brand of that size with no issue alyjough it will sometime be an issue on a D1.
As for your choice of trails, consider a lift, possibly sliders and diff guards, cause you truck is only going to go so far before you tear off a bumper, drag a doo or punch a pumkin.
If you want to talk about it more, PM me your number and I'll call you this weekend.

my truck has 62xxx miles. i know i need a lift and bumpers and what not.

Now could this rubbing be my wheels? i got them from Atlantic British. they do have a different offset then the factory wheels ans stick out a little. Sorry i just got to thinking.

Ah there you go. Are they the black 16s? If so, then yes the wheels/tires will stick out a inch or two more than stock and cause some rubbing. Plus you have M/Ts and M/Ts generally are a bit larger than their counterparts.

I have Atlantic British 16" black steelies with the same tire you do, but my tires are 285/75r16.

the offset wheels will do it, along with your sagging suspension.

a mild OME lift would go well with your tire choice.

I agree, I had 31.5" tires on my old D1 and I only rubbed in the back when it was fully flexed, my bro has an 02 Disco with RoverTym 3" and he has 33's and he hardly rubs
