Went off road and flipped a Rover and had an awesome time! PICS
hey guys. I got to go for some off road therapy this past Saturday. I woke up at 7:00am and knew I wouldn't fall back asleep so I figured I would just jump in my car and head to Uwharrie...... THANK GOD I DID!! I got to meet up with a few other Rover owners. Apparently the guys I was with are members of Carolina Roversm which is an awesome Rover club in North Carolina. I had an awesome time with those guys and here's some pics. Now pics of me since these are from my Phone, but maybe I'll find some pics of me somewhere, I had a good time, we did Daniel(went up it) then did Kodak Rock(went up it) and I was really happy with how I did at Kodak, I had to romp on it a bit to get over stuff, but I got in a few battles and managed to make it through them...... now I really want a locker, at least one
Also I met up with DRaider90 there and we had a good time, mayeb he could post some pics and vids, he wasn't with us on Daniel and at Kodak though, maybe next time

Next weekend I'm hoping we do it again, this only cost me 1/2 a tank of gas which was nice. I might park my car next time and get some sweet video to put up on my website!

Very cool What's the status on the Rover that flipped on its side though?
Looked like a good time. Pretty cool how a NC Rover club happened to be out there the same day Everytime I do some off roading out here in CA, all I see is Jeeps
I remember posting a video I have on you tube of me doing the ledge on Daniel there that the Disco flopped on. Ian said "He didn't see the challenge in it", oh well I guess you can flop on "non-challenging stuff".
Was great getting to wheel with you Dante, wish I could have been on Daniel for the flop. But the Isuzu group was out on Kodak while you guys were on Daniel. Then when we were finally done getting the Grand Cherokee's tie rod pushed back in, and ate lunch you guys were over halfway through Daniel when we met up with you guys. Did get some pictures of you and the Discos going down the last parts of Daniel though. There should be more pictures and videos coming from the Isuzu group from our fun on Rocky Mnt/Kodak that you missed. But who knows when they will post those. Here is my video/pictures minus your pictures:
I was going to head out there next weekend possibly, but I have to work. So I am going to be out there for a early October trip then the big Hallo'wharrie trip the 23rd-27th.
DRaider90, i'd like to see u on Daniel now, it's VERY washed out and I don't think your Raider could get through it without a winch. The only trucks that made it had lockers. I had to winch up it, and I made it through Kodak.... The ledge is pretty tough now, I'd say it's 4-5 feet now. Next weekend I might park my Range and run my camera all day so we can get some good HD video!
PS, I'm not knocking your Raider, your Raider does good, just making the point that Uwharrie gets harder towards the end on the season

You are right Uwharrie changes every year, and even month to month/week to week stuff can change. Back in 06 I did the ledge on Daniel on 31x10.50s, and again in 07. Did the ledge last year on 34x12.5s, and earlier this year in April on 34x9.5s. I will be doing Daniel again at the Hallo'wharrie trip for sure so we will see.
I may end up needing a tug, but the Isuzu group got even an open/open TJ on 33"s up it yesterday I found out. The key is taking the right hand line, getting your truck going up the embankment as your making the turn right before the ledge. With a SWB I get a tire or two up in the air but its not bad, with a longer wheel base it might have been too off camber. Because if you take the left hand line without enough lift you will absolutely need to winch/get a tug.
But again you never know, I will see in October. Was great finally getting to wheel with you Dante (not counting pulling my cousin out of course). I was impressed with how your Range did not even airing down (I hope you aired down before Daniel though, haha). Hope you make it for the October trip so we can have some fun on Daniel.
