There's a lot of those in use in Australia and other countries for exploration- they get tremendous fuel economy in the diesel versions and are far more capable than they look.

I always wondered if people took those off-road - i never seen any pics of them - maybe i should visit the freelander section ?

While I prefer my D90s, I've wheeled my Freelander a lot. Aside from the rocks, it does extremely well in all other terrains.

Chris,
If your going to leave that winch plate on there, why not attach a cooler or something to it? Looks a little funny. Ok, a lot funny.

i read that the freelander look like they could not do much, but have the LR's off-road strength. has anyone seen a lift on a freelander? if so, i would like to see some pic's.

Mine pictured above has a 2" DAP suspension lift. Doent look quite like it because of the larger tires but park mine next to a stocker and you'll see it sits a lot higher.

They definatly are not as robust as the larger models but for average and mild wheeling, they do very well, a LOT better than most give them credit for.
