Gates says 'clock is ticking' on Iraq

FALLUJAH, Iraq - Defense Secretary Robert Gates slipped into Iraq Thursday to warn Iraqi leaders that the U.S. commitment to a military buildup there is not open-ended. Gates said the political tumult in Washington over financing the military presence in Iraq shows that both the American public and the Bush administration are running out of patience with the war.
Even in my family where support for the mission and ideas of the War in Iraq is strong, we are growing tired of the war as well.

Google Makes $1 Billion 1st-Quarter Profit

Google continued to outpace its Internet rivals during the first quarter, reporting yesterday that profit grew to $1 billion, up 69 percent from the comparable quarter last year. The company also outlined plans to expand further through new advertising projects in online and traditional media.

Giuliani: Nation learned from Okla. City

OKLAHOMA CITY - Mourners on Thursday marked the 12th anniversary of the bombing that killed 168 people here by reaching out to victims of the Virginia Tech shootings and of violence everywhere.
Nearly everyone you meet knew someone in that building that day. And everyone has their own story about that day.
I would have been in front of that building that day if the part I ordered had been at Radio Supply. It was delayed in shipping. I had gone down there Monday and Tuesday to pick it up of that week. Each of those days it was not there I drove by the Federal Building on or right about 9:00am on my way to other tasks. I called that morning and they didn't have it so I went to a customer site in Wayne, Oklahoma instead of downtown.
The Radio Supply building was knocked off it's foundation by the blast. I was an hour away by car and felt the shockwave pass the truck while I was on the interstate.

Child predators could face execution

AUSTIN - Backers of a Senate bill to toughen punishment for child-sex offenders said they've reached a deal that would permit the death penalty for offenders who repeatedly prey on children. The compromise bill, which was distributed to Senate members on Tuesday, would allow the death penalty only for those twice convicted of raping a child 13 or younger.
Good! Maybe we can't get this law too in Oklahoma.

Blood-alcohol level of Woodinville driver breaks state record

A former Seattle police officer returned the highest blood-alcohol reading ever recorded by a Washington state driver, and she was charged with driving under the influence Wednesday. Deana F. Jarrett, of Woodinville, registered a 0.47 percent blood-alcohol reading after striking two cars April 11, said Trooper Jeff Merrill, public-information officer for the State Patrol. The legal limit in Washington is 0.08 percent.
That's great! former cop. She has problems.
Filed a sexual harrassment lawsuit the same year she came on the force.
