I read a statistic stating that our veterans were killing themselves at the rate of 120 per week. I found this hard to believe, so I did a little research and found this video:
So our Iraq veterans are taking their own lives at about four times the rate of non-veterans, much more effectively than any terrorist or insurgent. This brings tears to my eyes and if you add this number, which is in the thousands to the soldiers that have been killed serving in Iraq, the numbers are staggering.

Guys and gals do it in country too. Its something big we have to watch out for.
Little things add up, the stress of going out on patrol, dealing with life in the sand box, mom and dad get sick or divorced, sally is fucking around, money problems, etc.
You have a weapon with rounds at all times.
there are several places to go off and sit and contemplate.
The worst for me was being cooped up in Camp Fallujah for 5 months recovering from 2nd deg burns.
Couldnt go out in the sun. All my boys were out operating. i hung out in the CP at night trying to give myself something to do and help out my company at the same time. The impending indirect fire that came too close a few times several times a week. I felt safer out in my tank than in the camp in a trailer, waiting for a lucky mortar or 122mm rocket to find its mark on top of my "can". It can do wonders for your mind. Wandering around the camp in pitch black expecting a muj attack didnt help either.
O well, i can honestly say i never wanted to suck start my 9mm, but i had a few things to keep me focused, my kids, my fiance, wanting to get better so i could go back out.
Some of these guys put on a face that nothing is bothering them, then the extra straw hits the camels back and its all over.

Well, I am glad that you had/have your kids and fiance to keep you focused(your land rover too-joke).
Seriously though, I hope that people start realizing whats happening instead of sweeping this under the rug. People need to start talking to you guys and helping you.
I think we have asked more of our soldiers in this war(perhaps more so than other wars) and I get tired of hearing of some military family getting the shaft for one reason or another.
You guys have had to put up with some much shit, I really do not know what to do or say about it, other than thank you.
I posted a thread earlier about where they investigated veteran charities where most of them were just pocketing the money and doing nothing for the soldiers, like giving themselves six figure wages. JUST BS

But i know exactly where they can send those people, they can get a nice tan while they are at it.....
