Korea Nuclear Deal Agreed

Nuclear weapons in North Korea will be disabled and a crucial reactor complex shut down as part of a landmark deal. The agreement came after marathon talks held by six nations in Beijing. Under the agreement, North Korea must take the steps within 60 days and in return it will receive 50,000 tonnes of fuel oil or economic aid of equal value. It will receive another one million tonnes of fuel oil or equivalent when it takes further steps to disable its nuclear capabilities.
First, I'm happy about this. It is totally predictable though. Second, North Korea is not a viable place to have a population. Apparently they can't produce enough of anything to feed their own population. And lastly...Communism doesn't work if you can't take care of yourself.

4 dead at Philadelphia business meeting

PHILADELPHIA - A business meeting turned deadly when a gunman apparently angry over money killed three men and critically injured a fourth before exchanging gunfire with police and then killing himself, police said.
The gunman's role in the company was not immediately clear, but Ross said police believed he might have been an investor.

Teen Gunman kills 5 in Utah mall

(KUTV) SALT LAKE CITY A man in a trench coat pulled a 12 gauge shotgun and opened fire at Salt Lake City's Trolley Square on Monday evening, killing five people and injuring several more, police say. The gunman also died in the shooting.

Burton sorry about missing votes for golf

U.S. Rep. Dan Burton this morning apologized for missing 19 votes to play in a golf tournament in January. Burton, R-Indianapolis, who has not responded to requests for comment, made his apology during an appearance on a conservative radio talk show in Indianapolis.
I think a recall is in order. Nothing irks me more than this crap.

Bedford County Commissioner John Brown, a former Shelbyville policeman, remembers the time when a black officer was not allowed to arrest a white person. That changed nearly 37 years ago this month during what, otherwise, was a modest arrest.
Black History Monty. It was only a short time ago that things began to change.
As John says, ""We've come a long way, but we have a ways to go," Brown said in a refrain frequently heard when people are asked about progress in race relations.
"And we must be prepared if a job opens up," he said of advancement for African-Americans, or really anybody in a career. "We must be qualified."
Brown closed the interview with a question of his own. How do you decide whether to hire a black person or another person if they're equally qualified? His answer: It depends on whose application was submitted first.
We need more men like him.

Tornado hits New Orleans area; 1 dead

NEW ORLEANS - A powerful storm and likely a tornado hit the New Orleans area early Tuesday, killing an elderly woman, injuring at least 15 other people, and damaging dozens of business and homes in a region still trying to recover from Hurricane Katrina.
News conference where Mayor Nagin will blame the federal government for the tornado, and complain that FEMA trailers didn't stay anchored, later today.

Duke falls out of men's basketball poll for first time in 11 years

Duke's plunge this men's basketball season hit an unfamiliar low Monday — the Blue Devils fell out of the latest USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches' Poll after being ranked in 202 consecutive polls.
I'll bet Coach K made them all run suicides for that.

SAN DIEGO: San Diego Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer was fired on Monday in a shocking move by president Dean Spanos, who cited a "dysfunctional situation" between the coach and general manager A.J. Smith.
Oh, so the general manager is the guy that calls the plays, analyses the defense and motivated the players to sacrafice their youth???

Sigh....Its been a tough year to be a Duke fan... .....Thats OK though because all that youth will dominate next year when they are not so young.....
