Cheney OK after Afghan Blast; 23 killed

BAGRAM, Afghanistan -- A suicide bomber attacked the entrance to the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan on Tuesday during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney, killing up to 23 people and wounding 20. Cheney was unhurt in the attack, which was claimed by the Taliban and was the closest that militants have come to a top U.S. official visiting Afghanistan. At least one U.S. soldier, an American contractor and a South Korean solder were among the dead, NATO said.
That's a bold move. They should be thankful that Reagan isn't the president right now.

Juror dismissed in Libby trial

WASHINGTON - A federal judge avoided a potential mistrial in the CIA leak case Monday by dismissing a juror and sending the other 11 back to continue deliberating the fate of former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.
The appeal process just got longer.

Sharpton wants DNA test

NEW YORK - The Rev. Al Sharpton said he wants a DNA test to determine whether he is related to former segregationist Sen. Strom Thurmond through his great-grandfather, a slave owned by an ancestor of the late senator.

Arrrr, U.S. warship heads for vessel hijacked off Somalia

NAIROBI (Reuters) - A U.S. warship is approaching the area off the Horn of Africa where Somali pirates have anchored a hijacked ship chartered to carry U.N. food aid, a U.N. spokeswoman said on Monday.
I think if I was at sea I'd have weapons to protect my ship.
I think those pirates would be in for a surprise. Yeah, that's me.

So as the price of the Alex Gordon 2006 Topps – a card never intended for release scattered scarcely in packs – surged past $3,000 on eBay, Alex Gordon, the third baseman, became someone entirely different on hotel registries.

I hope he becomes a great, great ball player.
