So I'm driving home in heavy traffic today from Denver back to Castle Rock on I-25 south and I see:
- 1 LR3 - 2 Discos - 3 H2s - 1 Built up Cherokee on 35's - 2 built up Wranglers (one on 33's, one on 35's) - 3 stock Wranglers - 1 built up 90 coming up the other way (that I didn't recognize) This morning I saw an LR3, a built up 80's Tacoma, a built up X-Terra, and a built-up Pathfinder (?) This is, like,,,, normal here. So got me thinking--- is it just here? How often do you guys see things like newer Rovers and Hummers?, and how often do you see built-up wheelin' rigs where you live? edit: And one other thought: Are the inspection laws enforced where you live? In CO, the bumper laws are rarely, if ever, enforced unless you are pulled over for something else. Beadlocks everywhere, etc etc. Are these laws enforced actively in other states? How about in UK, SA, Oz, etc? |

Well, here in Central Cali there are lots of Hummers and Rovers but none of them are beefed up for the real deal. Sure there are some with lifts but they usually have bling on them so you know the guy really isn't using that lift for offroading. Well, that just goes for the Hummers. I don't see a lot of built up Rovers. In fact, I get lots of weird stares when people see my Rover with a mild lift and MT's. There are a lot of built up Chevy and Ford trucks here but all their lift shit is chrome - and real shiny too. So you know they don't do any real offroading - maybe a mud bog here and there if they have too much Coors Light to drink. I see a lot of built up Jeeps but they don't have a scratch on them and even they are all real clean too! Some of them look real tuff but, get real, you can tell when a rig is used offroad.

In Miami, FL, I have yet to see a Modern Rangie with the ARB Bumper (or is it TJM?). There is one guy that lives near my sister's house that owns a D90 EXACTLY like Griff's but Green, with the White Top...(Griff do you have BFG ATs?...this guy I'm talkin about does.)
I've seen 3 DII, one of which was the DIIa, with SD Roof Racks and Brushbars, no lights though. One of the DIIs was for SURE an off-roader, Roof Rack with shovel on one side, Hi-Lift on the other, 4 lights up front, and the Driver and I drove convoy for about 8 miles, never letting anyone get between us. That was an awsome encounter. The other is an XD model DII with SD Rack, 4 Hellas, and I THINK...what appears to be a winchless winch bumper. See him headed the opposite direction on I95 whenever I hit the bike trials on weekends...Odd coincidence if you ask me I've only seen TWO!!! D1s, a green one with Hella's on the LR Brushbar, and a White one I see maybe 2 times a week on my way towork, with end-caps cut, SD Rack with 2 outter Hellas, a lift, and MTs, and the punk doesnt even look over, I even honked..oh well. Anything other than Rovers...Most of what RoverX said applies. But there are exceptions...one of my clients has a H1 that he OFTEN uses offroad in some VERY AWSOME Mud Holes in Naples. I've seen a BLACKED out H1 that also gets used off road, made obvious by the muddy residue on the tires and the light scratches. ANd this guy in the jeep works two blocks away from me... ![]() Seen several tacomas that obviousl get wheeled... everything else I've seen is simply BLING OH WAIT, almost forgot this one..... ![]() ![]() Thats it for now ![]()

i work in San Jose, so there are hundreds of built-up rigs ranging from H2s to Ford F-350s with chrome city. the only ones that appear to be used for anything other than cruising are a couple jeeps (although most of the really nice, but tough looking jeeps are clean as a whistle). i've seen about a half dozen D90s, but only one was a station wagon like mine, and it was the willow green NAS with racks and protection. this lesbian drives it for work... she's a dogsitter or something. she shipped it out from back east. i guarantee she doesn't take it off road. come to think of it, there is another willow green green 90 that is for sale at the dealer right now. maybe i'll go check it out today... i'd be interested in the price. in santa cruz, where i live, i've seen one heavily fortified D1 that has been to hell and back. the guy who drives it is young and a skin-head. he looks as mean as his rig. there's also this guy who drives a white 110. i've seen him a couple times, but he's quite rude. appears that he has a generous broom handle stuffed deeply. AND, there's this one red series IIa that has been sitting (and rotting) in this guy's pasture. i do think it runs because it's moved a couple times. unfortunately, he's not taking care of it. i'm very tempted to relieve him of it. of course, i also see a nice stock D1 every day in my garage. it's full of child toys and cheerios. yep, it's the baby vehicle. however, the kid has a great view from that rear stadium seating. |

Im in Western NC and we have the Tellico ORV park (you have probably heard of this no matter where you are) It seems that anytime I am out near the Interstate there are always Diesel pickups pulling Jeeps and Trucks. I know a few people from rover clubhouse in Durham, NC and www.carolinarovers.org go to Tellico once in a while. Its a pretty nasty trail section

I saw only two Land Rovers Disco's that where build up .
One was Disco I and had the front bumper with a winch , and a roof rack with lights latter in the back for the roof rack , looked like it was lifteed a little and some biger tires. I've seen that Disco at night time in Fairfeld area i belive ( i was in brigeport and This girl drove my disco to a resteraunt in the area, She likes to drive my disco ) . The other one was a Disco II that had a roof rack and lights , but I did not pay that much attention to it , so I don't know what else was done to it . Really I don't see much of lifted or moded for that matter trucks for offroading in CT , cause everyone in CT is uptight about their land ( damn Liberals J/K ) .
