Nope..
Compare and contrast. Rockford - No cheesy porn star stach but instead has classic good looks. Rockford - Herringbone jackets compared to Hawian parrothead shirts. Rockford lives in his own trailer driving is own Firebird Esprit that he paid for...Instead of driving someones else Entry-Level Ferrari living in someone elses mansion. Rockford spanks the shit out of Magnum!

Magnum... hands down... Dude was a bad ass back in vietnam...
Thomas Sullivan Magnum IV was born on August 8th or January 5th, between 1944 and 1947, with August 08, 1945 fitting the most references. Both his father and grandfather were naval officers. Magnum himself attended the Naval Academy, Class of ‘67 or ‘68, depending on the episode referenced. He served ten or more years as an officer in the United States Navy, rising to the rank of lieutenant before resigning from the service in disillusionment in 1979, and promoted to commander when reinstated by the President of the United States of America in a ruse to whisk him away from Hawaii to Washington D.C. fearing he would interfere with a sensitive diplomatic mission. Magnum was a Vietnam War veteran and a former POW who believed his wife Michelle died in bombing during the final pull-out from Saigon. He served in both the SEALs and Naval Intelligence during his Navy years, and as such maintained many contacts in both “communities.” In scenes in which he wore his uniform with decorations, it could be seen that Magnum won the Navy Cross in Vietnam. Dude was a Navy Seal, worked in Navel intelligence and was a POW.... I hear he would have his buddy TC fly over enemy lines, just so they could kill some sleeping vietcong... just for the fun of it Jim Rockford on the other hand.... Jim Rockford is different from the average P.I. in many ways. Instead of being an ex-cop, he is a former convict, albeit one who was falsely imprisoned, who actually works for himself. Instead of being a loner, he has a close relationship with his father, "Rocky", his friend in the LAPD, Det. Dennis Becker, and has a large group of friends. He enjoys fishing and would rather spend time doing that than working. He often describes himself as "chicken" though often his actions speak otherwise. He lives in a small trailer on the beach in Malibu, California. Also, unlike the almost uniformly macho and trigger-happy gumshoes, Rockford would just as soon duck a fight as swing his fists, and he rarely carried a gun (for which he did not have a permit; he kept it in a cookie jar in his kitchen). wadda pussy Come on Elemental... your being mental if you think Jimmy could beat up Magnum?!?!?!?
