I've always used the premium grade. I'm too freaked out to use a less grade....

Is it true you get a wierd noise if you use less grade?

the noise your talking about is knock. Basically the computer will automatically adjust itself so the knock will not happen. What ends up happening is you will lose some preformance and gas milage by using the lower grades gas in an engine that is meant to have the high grade. In addition the grades burn at different rates and by using a lower grade you will end up getting more carbon build up in the engine.

I use the premium stuff only in my 97 Disco. As for additives I only use the seafoam stuff ( 2 times a year) and no other additives.

UHHH... If I use 87 octane she will sure tell me. Knock like a troll is inside the engine. I will stick with premium!

I use the cheapest, lowest grade gas I can find, no additives.. nothing else... oh wait I am driving a series.. they hate premium gas, and I hate changing my timing to adjust for the higher octane.....

For the disco drivers, there should be a way of knocking the timing back a little to accomodate the lower octane (basically all your timing is to sdjust for octane level to prevent the knocking.. might save some gas money... ) But I am not a computer guru, but the performance should not be affected if it is adjusted at the "distributer". I am sure that someone will correct me on this, but I switched my dodge dakota timing to run on the low grade stuff and saved a bundle (and that was several years ago when the price of gas was lower..)

That's not the point.....the point is this...if you use a lower octane of gas in the Disco, it will lead to alot of carbon buildup.
