Angry Grounded!

Ok, so after this whole thing happened with me getting MY truck stuck, my parents have decided to take it away from me for a while. It's understandable and will take it like a man, but now im riding around in my mom's 1989 Acura Legend LS. She's the original owner so as you can imagine, after a few years and being driven by a woman, it has a few probs. It pulls to the right BIG TIME plus it wobbles around a bit. Anyone know any good Acura Forums? I searched on google for one that I was a member of but I dont remember where the hek it is or what it was called. I know it had a black border background. So I guess I'm just sucking up by restoring the Legend to its previous prime!

As far as continuing my addiction to Rovers, I've had a secret savings account which I've been using to save up money for my dream 67 Camaro, but with little hope of any modern, well-built, diesel Defenders comming into the states, I think im just gonna go ahead and buy me a SWEET 97 Coniston Green D90 being sold by Land Rover West Palm. It has a winch. I posted it a while back. Since I wont be spending any money on my truck for a while, or even touching it for that matter, might as well get me another one while I'm grounded...hehe

Darn, sorry to hear that...

I think I'm gonna have to sit down and talk to your folks and explain to them how helpful and important you are to the LR community. Give me their phone number and I'll have a chat with them.

Hey, if you don't need the bumper let me know since I have another customer interested in it.... hehehe

haha...thanks for the concern John. I'm just pissed off that after having spent so much money on it they're gonna take it awa from me...its only for a while, but still! When things break I fix them. The part I havent mentioned and you parents will totally agree with is that i went off roadin as a spur of the moment type of thing and didnt tell my parents, and they didnt find out I was stuck until I gave them a call AFTER trying EVERYTHING possible. So there you have it, the recipe to pissed off parents!

wow...I really feel bad for you...and I can totally relate. My parents are totally cool with everything, as long as I get good grades they dont care if I drive to rosevill for coffee at 2am......let alone go off-roading without telling. There have been plenty of times where they have called at midnight and I am up in the hills with some buddies trying to get around in the dark, and they say, "ok, just be safe ". On the other hand, I have friends that get in trouble for getting their car dirty, or even taking it off-road. There is one kid at our school that has a Jeep TJ with a 5.5" lift and about $5000 in goodies and after breaking a shock his parents wont let him off-road with it till he is 18 years old.....really sucks.....I think its nuts because IMO kids should have to take resposibility for thier actions....but have the freedom to mess up. My parents give me just enough rope to save myself or hang myself...and I do pretty good. If I break something on my rover, I have to pay for it, but I can break as much as I want.....if I rolled my rover, they wouldnt be mad, but rather sad for me.....(but then I would chop-top it).

Again that really sucks, but why exactly did you get grounded? I dont see the logic in it. Do your parents understand that that is part of off-roading, or was it the whole "you didnt ask/call us" thing? I am still lost when my friends say they arnt allowed (parents wise) to go off-roading......though, there is always a factor of matureness to be taken into account....some of the people I know would try to do things that were clearly unsafe and asking for trouble...such as off-roading in a blizzard at night time far up into the mountains (hehe....that got one of my friends grounded )....or off-roading the day after his vehicle came back from the shop and them telling him "now dont go on trails for a while", and then he breaks what they just fixed (that got him grounded too ).

I hear ya josh!, what got to them was the whole "didnt ask/didnt call till last minute" thing. Thats BESIDES the fact that they dont like me off roading, but let me do it

That's TOO funny.. when I was a youngster, I used to get my vehicles taken away all the time. But I couldn't complain, My parents paid for my first three vehicles, all maint., gas, insurance, everything. Although none fo them were a Land Rover. My first car was an 86' Caprice Classic (you have to remember, I had my license in 89), then an 89' Ford Bronco (fullsize), then when I was in college, they bought me a new Jeep Cherokee Country that I modded the hell out of. 3" lift, lockers, ARB Bull bar, everything. That vehicle was never taken away, but again.. I was 21 at the time. Oh man.. that was a trip down memory lane.

Sorry to hear that man. I hope they are going to let you at least clean it up!

Hell I remember having my folks yanking my driving privledges almost on a monthly basis. But like 02Disco2 said, I didn't start out in a Rover. All I had was an 83 Mazda GLC, but I liked it very much. Although I would have missed a LR much, much, much more!

Hang in there, it'll pass when they calm down a little.

It would be interesting if you were the only person insured to drive your Rover, JC. Then I'm sure your mom would eventually want her car back and just give up. Bleh I'm still working on actually getting a Rover. I've got my heart set on a certain XD on dweb. Tough part is, with school and all, I don't really have time for a job, and my dad won't just buy me a car(understandable, it's not absolutely necessary that I have one, he lets me use his '95 D1.). If I do get it, I'll be paying insurance, gas, and whatever maintenance I can't do myself. Graduation is just around the corner though, so who knows. Maybe I can make a deal.

Im in that same boat....Im 21 now and my parents have bought my three vehicles and paid for the insurance, gas, and maintainence as well. I started out with a 92 Mazda 929. I sold it after 2 years and had my moms volkswagon for 6 months. Having the VW was part of the deal for getting a vehicle of my choice which ended up being the D90. To keep the miles off the D90 i bought a 97 Tacoma. I have done some stupid things in my past and have had them taken away many of times but it will blow over quicker than you think.

That hurts dude! Is the Rover under your name? If it is, why did your parents take it away from you? My Rover is under my parents name and said if I, for whatever reason, wrecked the thing, they would sell it. Now this also includes little fender benders where I could do the body repair, or if someone were to hit, they would still sell it. I tried to talk into letting me put it in my name and pay the registration and the insurance but that hasn't happened yet.

My best friend has an '04 330xi. Mystic blue with a grey interior. Was yours stick? He had to get the manumatic because his mom can't drive stick. My god is it a nice car though. Too bad he put it in a ditch like 3 months after he got it.

That tends to happen to younger people who get nice fast vehicles...
