No, seriously, I do. I currently am the Program Director for a foster family agency, used to work in adult mental health, and for Child Protective Services. Prior to that I used to own a pizza parlor and did construction. I have a Master degree in Social Work and a BA in psychology.

Here is the deal. I need to resign from my current position due to sexual harrassment issues. No, not by me. My boss starts to hit on me when she gets drunk at work functions. I know, I need to sue her ass. I recently challenged her at what I thought my salary should be and since then she has been on my case and ripping apart everything I do.

If anyone has any leads, please let me know - Northern California only due to my kids. I have three little boys that I have 50/50 custody of.

RoverX, that is too bad. It's unfortunate that your boss feals that she can treat you a certain way and get away with it. I used to have a boss that would pinch my butt when I'd walk by thinking it was all fun. It would piss me off. I regreted never telling my supervisor about it, I just quit the job instead. If you can you need to let her boss know. Wether it helps your situation or not, it needs to be documented so when it happens again there will be prior complaints. I know it also sucks that we're guys and it's not the norm for men to file complaints. This is your job! Your bread and butter... Don't let thhis behavior put you in a bad position. You have rights also... Someone on this forum has to know law and can help you out.
I will talk to some people I know in similar industries as you and see if they know of anything. You are in the Stockton area?

Anyhow, get a drink... and think it over before you quit! You have 3 kids and a Rover to take care of.

Well, I did tell her about it. She asked for forgiveness, I gave it, feeling it was the right thing to do. I am in the Modesto area, about 15 minutes from Stockton. I need an attorney who will take the case pro bono until a settlement is won.

I know, I know, I won't quit. I have my boys to take care of. Maybe I should play the lottery tonight.

I would do two things, ( I said, I would do, not you should do) get a 12 pack of your fav beer and watch the movie "Thief" starring James Caan.

While you watch the movie take notes that come to mind on how to handle the situation. The actions taken by Frank in the movie should stir enough creative thoughts on how to take care of that sea hag of a boss you have.
If you do nothing, except resign, then she will feel empowered like that agency is her house and she is the queen. Then the next poor guy that rolls in will have to deal with where you left off.

I would def make a huge deal out of it. Get Gloria Allred (that hag) and roast your future ex-boss on a public spit.

Thanks for the support guys (and gal - Roverchic, thanks for the PM of support). Tomorrow is D-day. I have 3 letters written up. One for resignation if it comes to that. One for a response to termination if it comes to that. One to buy me some time so I can find another job and consult an attorney. Hopefully it comes to that.

Like ibjettin says, I've got three little boys to take care of. I have to play my cards right.

Oh yeah, my laptop is a company computer so if you don't hear from me for a few days, I got sacked. And yes, I did protect myself...I will be erasing the hard drive tomorrow morning of everything and reprogramming all the original software that came with it so it will be just like a new one.

I know this is few hours away from you but, The Alpine County Health and Human services is looking for a Public Works and Teen Works director. I dont know what the pay is but I know it has full benifits.

Well....got demoted and was told to stand before the board on Friday. The board consists of her husband and three best friends. Consulted an attorney and he insisted I submit a letter requesting severance and in return I sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Kind of feels like I am giving up and not standing up to her but on the other hand, six months severance pay will go a long way as a single dad taking care of three little boys. Yeah, my kids rock.

But it will allow time to re-coop. What my concerns would be is does this affect your LPC or Ph.D. in anyway? I know in Oklahoma you have to renew the LPC liscence every year or maybe three? Once you have a PhD I am not sure someone can take this away however CA has really crazyyy laws!

I really HATE when people take advantage of other people like this, especially with her position. I am very sorry you have to go through this experience. I walked out of a law firm when my former boss asked me to place a lein on a lady's house for $60k in attorney fees (after a judge approved the amount). I did all the work on the case to boot!

Thanks Roverchic, the support mean a lot to me. I have spent the majority of my life standing up for the rights of others. I spent a number of years representing disabled children with their special education rights, used to work for Child Protective Services, and when I had my pizza parlor, I was the only guy in this small town who would hire non-white people - my parents taught me not to see skin color but the person, so, as you can see, I really appreciate the support when it comes full circle.

Nope, can't take my degrees away and yes, Cali laws do suck big time but my boys have ties here to their mom so I will not disrupt them.

Not sure about having to take the demotion though... I would find a lawyer that would really go after them. If you can afford to take the hit for a little while, I would think that it will pay out in the end. If you can talk your ex into moving to MA there's tons of Jobs here that would suit your needs Either way... Good luck with whatever you have to do.
