Default Random pictures from Africa

I thought about hijacking a "show it off" thread, but that seems more atune to involving our trucks. So here are some from my adventures in Africa, and dont worry, there will be some LR's, and Toyotas, and others.

Rafting the Nile

Ah, good way to start my Monday morning.... Fantastic pics msggunny!

Speaking of Africa.....BRIAN should be posting his latest safari adventures sometime soon. As a matter of fact, September '08 could be an adventure for some of you, if you'd want to come along for about a 2 week escapade w/Brian as our guide.

I'll post more details if anyone is interested. We'd fly into Johannesburg and cruise the country in 2 sweet LR's the entire time. Will be fun..... For those of you who have viewed his threads before...it will not be disappointing.

With a little luck the wife and i will get our act together and be back in Zimbabwe that year. Who knows, we could drop down and join you all, its only a couple hour drive to Joburg from Harare.

Murchison Falls NP, Uganda. 2 days after we left here the Lords Resistance Army slaughtered 19 people on a bus that was on the same road my family and i were on.

Me loosing a huge Nile Perch to the mangrove branches. Dickhead captian wouldnt get the boat off the bank in time to keep it in the curent so it went for the trees and snaped my line. It was a BIG fish, we saw it come up to the boat side once. Dam. Got my little 40Lb one on the wall though. Here's your BUTT SHOT too Kelli Jo!

Banks of the Nile.

The Falls.

Fishing on Lake Victoria for Nile Perch. We had our own boat so we did it every chance we got, and since the lake was only a half hour drive away from home it was almost every weekend!

This was the biggest one i got in, i had a fiberglass repro done in Zimbabwe. It was 40Lbs, small for a Nile Perch.

My 2nd biggest

Foul hooked, we got a few like this. It seemed like they went for it and missed but the trebble got him.

A baby.

Some "random" random pictures.

Cool tree in the botanical gardens in Entebbe, Uganda. I think it was a rubber tree, but i cant remember.

Swinging from a vine from the same tree.

Me and a buddy in same tree.

My kids next to a termite mound in Kampala.

An Ankole Bull. These things were everywhere in the city.

Cheeky Vervet monkeys at the Botanical gardens.

Me getting awarded the coveted "Hashshit" award after one of the Kampala Hash House Harriers runs.

Thanks for the pics msggunny !

Yes, pictures coming soon. We've just come back from a trip to Central Kalahari, Chobe, Magadikgadi Pans and Tuli. We were in some of the remotest places you can get to and had a fantastic trip. If you've seen "Gods must be crazy" and the sequel, well, that's where we were. If you haven't seen them, go and hire them now !

We had two leopards wander right through our camp site, about 2 hours after sunset, as we were cooking dinner one evenng. We always have an interesting trip

I've finished the Central Kalahari and Chobe albums, but can't upload them for another day or two, due to my line being down, I'm using the ISDN backup at the moment. I'll have the Tuli album done in the next day or so, then another album over the next week or so with all the camp sites, scenery, vehicles, people etc, together with a bit of a story of the whole thing maybe.

In the mean time, we met a couple from UK, from another forum (LR Addict), Mike & Margaret and posted the pics of the time we spent with them in the Central Kalahari. So here's the link and a little of what's to come

http://www.chat-africa.co.za/upload/...2007/index.htm

The rest is coming Real Soon Now

And yes, big trip planned for next year
