Default Shtf

Sorry I've been gone so long, out on training.

Would anyone be interested in a "Tactical, SHTF" thread??
If so, let's post here. We can discuss BoBs, weapons, ammo, food storage and of course our "SUPREMELY VIABLE" Land Rovers! Maybe we can even get it as it's own permanent sub-forum.

Preparing for what's coming!

all show and no go, big, heavy, 9 rounds. i've shot one a couple times at a range. it's a gun. buy something you can actualy use, your not smith haha, although his was a fifty. get an xd-45, a modern rendition of a 1911 same pommel saftey as a 1911 and same trigger saftey as a glock, no "hard" saftey. if you think your going to do a lot of swimming while being chased by zombies get a glock. if you have larger hands or long fingers nothing will beat a walther p99 in 9 or 40 i would love to have one of those but they simply don't fit.

Truthfully? Any gun is a good one if you know how to use it properly.

I'm not a "caliber snob" as I have a .380 I can empty a 7 rnd magazine in a 6" circle in five seconds at 7-10yards. If you're not proficient with a handgun, a 12gauge pump w/18" barrel (Mossberg, 500, Remington 870, Daly). are good for SHTF or home defense and extremely VIABLE!! Remember though, you STILL have to aim a shotty though!

I prefer the SKS carbine for medium range shooting under 300 yards. 7.62X39 ammo is cheap and plentiful. AR, Kel-Tec SU16 and most other semi-autos in .223 or 5.56 NATO are extremely viable. I personally don't like the Mini-14 as they tend to be pricey and inaccurate. Others like them just fine.

And a 7.62 NATO or .30-06 bolt action for those "reach out and touch someone" scenarios.

How about the "supremely viable" Ruger 10/22, Marlin 795 or Marlin 66 in. 22lr.

Lets, here more!

Next post, I'll write about my Bug out Bag and it's contents.

Right now, let's take a weapons "roll call" I'll start.

Weapons:
1958 all original Rumanian SKS 7.62X39 (Older Daughters)
Norinco SKS/Choate tactical stock "'Ole Punishment" 7.62X39 (Mine)
Marlin model 795 .22lr
SU-16B 5.56 NATO (Younger Daughters)
Bersa .380 (Wifes)

Want to get:
Saiga in 5.56
Marlin XL7 in .30-06

Ammo on hand:
2000rnds/7.62X39
1000rnds/5.56 NATO
500rnds.22lr
550rnds/.380APC

WHO'S NEXT???

This will be hekka' fun!

imo.. a shotty is to big and cumbersome for home defense, in that area your looking at a 2 to 4 yard range. at that distance it's point and shoot. the usefull pattern for a shotty isn't but about 3 inches anyway. you get a decent caliber pistol with a 12 to 16 round mag your in good shape that should take care of even 3 or 4 bad guys. if you use more ammo than that in a single instance your either in law enforcement or millitary, if not... you need to get the hell out of there.

whats comming? i havent decided yet..2012, that idiot in the whitehouse or zombies.

as far as true survival though your spot on with the 10/22. i like the 410 snake tamer as well.

Your little range isn't big enough to use that one.
