I just got finished reading Dead Certain, the book about George Bush...I forget the author. Anyway, one of the last chapters talks about how Karen Hughes rejoined the White House and was making some speaches in the middle east and Egypt. While in the Middle East (can't remember if it was UAE or Saudi Arabia), she discussed the importance of women's rights. One of her examples was the right to drive, and why it was so important to her as an American woman.
