Default '04 Disco unstable at high speed/wind

Hi,

I am a new LR owner. Recently purchased an 04 Disco and have noticed two concerning things:
1) Car feels very unstable when traveling at high speed (~70 MPH). Specifically, I live in CO and there is an exposed hill on the drive that connects Denver to Boulder where I always notice it. It feels as if someone turned the steering wheel and that I am going to drive off the road. I assume that it may be from a gust of wind but I notice it MUCH MUCH more when I am in the LR. I have driven over the same hill with a Nissan Murano and a Subaru Impreza and barely notice the gusts and it certainly does not feel like it is redirecting the car.

Is this just b/c the Disco has a more narrow wheel base and a taller frame than the Murano/Impreza or could there be more to it?

2) The other concern I have is with the steering. This may just be a LR thing, but I noticed that it feels as if the power steering has a much slower reaction time than any car I have previously owned. For example, after making a slow right turn on a quiet neigborhood street, I feel like I have to physically readjust the steering wheel to get the car to go straight, otherwise it would continue to turn (albeit at a slower rate) and drive into the sidewalk.

Sorry for the novice questions, but I am new to LRs and not the most mechanically inclined.

Thanks,
Jon

You can check the steering ball joints for play and have the steering box tightened then get an alignment. It is a truck and will never feel like either of the cars you compared it to. They are a nice riding truck compared to others IMO...

and wind will push it around, it is a box thats pretty tall...
