2003 Land Rover Discovery 2 Battery Question/Problem

Hello, I am a new 2003 Discovery 2 HSE owner. One week! This morning the car was dead dead dead. I looked at the battery but there is no indicator light. Of course it looks nothing like the one in the manual, the car is 14 years old now. The manual says that to charge the battery it has to be removed and connected to an external charger. Is that true of any type battery that's in it? If so, does this mean I would remove the battery and take it somewhere to be charged?

I wonder why the battery died overnight. It was fine yesterday. I think I have not mastered how to turn all the lights on and off properly. The first day I had it I couldn't get the tail lights off. Took many tries before finally working. Seems to have something to do with the order of turning things off. Like, first headlights, THEN turn and remove ignition key. So maybe last night I did it wrong and something was left on.

Any advice appreciated. And be kind. I have previously mastered my dear old 1984 Bronco II (R.I.P.) and several old Jeep Cherokees.

I have a 99 DII and have used my charger on it without a problem. Positive to positive and negative to ground. Left it overnight and it started fine the next morning.

Never heard anything about sequence for turning off lights. Think you have a short someplace.

Hi, no such thing as turning lights off sequence on a D2... for that tail light thing, you should rule out a sticking contact in the stalk, next time it does the trick undo the 2 screws from the bottom of the steering nacelle to expose the plug and unplug C0041(attached)... if this cures things replace the stalk, if not there is a short in the wiring somewhere and that's bad news cos it can be a nightmare to find
