Default 4th Gear ratio incorrect code

I just purchased a 00 disco II. The service engine soon light came on. The code that came up was 4th gear ratio incorrect. Any ideas on what this could be. Today when I was driving home it seemed that the RPM's seemed a little high. It was around 4000 @ 70-75 MPH?

Thanks
Aaron

Search for P0734 to see other posts about this. But, in short, you need a new MAF. Check with Tony at Cerrone's - Welcome to Cerrone's European

No, you don't need a MAF yet, for that to be true, you would also need 2 other codes showing banks A and B running lean.
Check and see what type of air filter you are using, if it is a K&N, oiled filter, get rid of it today and go back to a standard paper filter cause K&N filters will kill your Bosch MAF.

I'll check for other codes. I have only had the Discovory for a few days. I started checking it out last night. It had a dirty land rover air filter in it. Thanks for the advice

Well, I would suggest you change out the filter, wipe out the filter box with a gamp cloth and then have the codes cleared. If the code comes back, go see Frank and see what else is going on.

Isn't this thread supposed to be in the Tech & DIY forum? This is the general forum...
