Default anyone love how vague service writers are?

godbless my service writers, great guys but man are they vague on the phone. This noise well could be alot of things or this problem well bring it in and we will diagnose it.

about the only thing they can tell you quickly for sure is the cost of an alignment?

oh and I am five feet from the phone sometimes when I hear them talking to you and being vague.

of course I will tell them" You know I know how to fix it without bringing it in"

Of there response is, "You dont work if we aren't vague. Which at that point kinda shuts me up. Especially now thats its dead.

My lord, it's like that in every dealership. Not just Rovers. I am lucky to be an ex-mechanic, so if I bring a vehicle to my mechanics, or to the dealership; I'm lucky enough to do most of the diagnostic myself. I'm usually wrong of course, but only one step to each side of the right guess. Makes life a little easier. At the Rover dealership, I will ONLY talk to the service manager. I won't even recognize the service writers. Luckily the techs at my local dealership are enthusiasts, not just mechanics.

i just had some work done to my series 3 (shame on me for not doing it myself) and the guy there would say" well, we don't know what other problems we'll find" I'd say" well, what do you think it might cost" His reply..."i cant tell you...we don't know whats under there. we may find something we may not" Then he would say" hey...we found this!! We have the truck now, we'll just through a new one on. Hey, your check strap is broken, you got one?? Hey...it's on the lift, we'll just throw it on. It's simple" By the time he was done "just throwing" it on, I owed $3200.00 Nothing was done for free. Nothing. Service writers are the best sales people out there. They know how to do ya dry and have you smiling all the while!!!

Col; Please tell me that was a typo. Not 3200 dollars in labor and parts. The WHOLE point of buying a series truck is that ANYBODY can do ANYTHING themselves. It's the ultimate MacGuyver truck. You can do anything without any mechanical ability. Just a willingness to learn. Holy Sh!T !!!
