Default Broken Spare Tire Mount Disco Ii

...would appreciate any suggestions for a way for me to save money on my spare tire carrier issue...

...i had a mechanic mount my spare tire back onto the truck, when he overtightened the nuts, thus stripping and breaking off two out of the three bolts used to secure the spare wheel...

...aside from purchasing a replacement mount, does anyone here have any suggestions...

some questions i had were:

- is it worth it to have a welder replace the bolts on the mount?
- should i buy a new or used mount?
- does the reinstallation of the mount require removal of the paneling on the inside door? how many hours would this take a Land Rover mechanic to install?

Thank you in advance for this forum's help.

It would probably be just as easy and cheap to find a used one. Try Will Tillery.434-251-9331.
Yes, the rear panel must be removed to get the carrier off. It should take about a half hour to do this job.
Is your mechanic paying for this mistake?

+1 to using will tillery.

spare tire mounts are fairly cheap to replace.

Why are you even asking that question, unless it was already damaged?
You should have taken back and said, "You broke, you replace it."
Or, at the very least, get a written quote from the dealer for one and present it as a bill to the mechanic.

I recently just took off my rear tire carrier.

It's in perfect condition except for 6 small holes I drilled into it for cb antenna mounts. They are very small and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. They would actually come in handy for an antenna in the future.

Make me an offer.

I would have your mechanic pay all the expenses, whatever you do.
