Default Considering buying a '99 Discovery, advice/warnings/comments?

Greetings! I'm a current '99 Subaru Forester owner from Michigan's Upper Peninsula that needs to get a new car (heading off to college in Houghton, MI and I know deep down my beloved car won't last).

Today I saw a blue '99 Land Rover Discovery Series II(extremely rare for my area) for $9,000 with only 74,000 miles. It seems to be fully loaded, including dual sunroofs (holy crap!).

I do a fair bit of light-to-medium off-roading and a lot of regular driving on the roads with my friends as well. At Michigan Tech, where I'm going to college, the climate is ruthlessly cold and snowy during winter and makes for poor driving conditions. Nothing my Forester can't handle, except it's dying.

My big question before I take the dive is this: Is it worth it? I thought I'd ask current owners and find out from the people who know exactly what it's like to own this car: reliability, fun factor, comfort. Between all of the features, the relatively low mileage, and the cost, it seems almost too good to be true.
