Mike is correct. If you overfill it, the excess will just be forced out via the pressure relief cap. It's more important that it be ahowing in the tank when cold, because that's the least volume the liquid will assume. If it is too low, as the coolant cools off, the level in the tank will go dry and you will end up with air in the system. Too much won't blow any gaskets, the cap lifts well before that. Keep in mind, air in the tank is compressable, water is not, so if the tank had a higher level, the level will rise till it cannot gofurther, and any increase in pressure just lifts the cap enough to release the expanding volume.
