Default Cost of Oil Changes

I have recently heard of some horrendous charges by Land Rover dealerships for the cost of oil changes.

I am interested in hearing what others are paying, what model Land Rover, Synthetic, Blended, or dino oil, labor charges and filter prices.

I am only interested in hearing what people are paying to have it done, at the delaerships, local in-and-out shops, and garages, but not what the DIYers are paying for oil and filters. Thanks.

The expensive ones you hear of is the 03- 05 RR. It takes nine quarts of Synthetic fluid and a cartridge type filter with the appropriate gaskets.

Even at Autozone prices it comes out to well over fifty dollars or more for parts alone.

The new LR3 takes nine quarts of Castrol synthetic blend. Well the 4.4 and new supercharged Jag engines both take nine quarts.

The V6 LR3 takes a Motorcraft 820. LR doesnt make them in LR badge. So we get them from the local ford distributor. Its the 4.0 out of the mustang. Plus it takes six quarts.

Thanks Beezel.
What does your dealership charge for RR, RRS, LR3 and Freelander?
Do you also have a "HAZ Waste Fee"?

Oil changes are included in the lease of my '05 RR and my Mini, but I do have them change the oil at 1/2 the milage they advise. I think it was about $100 but to be honest I'd have to go back and look at a bill to tell you for sure.

Then again nothing shocks me since the oil change on a 911 is more than $200.

Listen ,,,,,your choices are laugh, cry or suck it up and deal with it!

Yeah, they have a dry sump tank up in the right front corner of the engine compartment that has no bottom. Some years were 16 quarts, some were more, but unlike a wet sump, you can go up or down a few quarts without a problem, engine still gets plenty. The reason wasn't for additional lubrication, it was because the oil temps can run higher on the boxer engines.
Mine's a Targa Carrera, and I think it gets about 1000 miles a year usage.

Goodyear place charged me 65 for synthetic, then didn't even fill it up to full....Once i got home and realized it I had to go back to town to get it filled to the correct level....

For my 2001 DII, if I don't feel like doing it myself, the local mechanic charges $25 for oil change and greasing driveshafts.

The only difference between men and boys is the price of the toys.....lol
I have a pristine Carrara 2 911 / 964....and I change the oil for time/condensation reasons more than milage, I also only put 1,000 -2,000 miles per year on the Porsche. The Vette which I bought new in 1988 (44,000 miles) is much cheaper to keep, and I put +/- 400 miles per year on her.
