Default dealer...say your prayers for me!!

well i took my disco to the dealer today and left it. i am getting it serviced because of the trio of death and the service engine light. i was hoping to get a sweet LR3 loaner but that didn't happen, but i did get a brand new ford exploder rental that land rover is paying for!!! anyway, cross your fingers that the work will be covered in my extended warranty and that they won't jip me!!! let me be in your prayers tonight!!! thanks!! haha

if you have an extended warrentee, then I wouldnt worry about it....I guess it depends on the details of the warrentee.

they'll jip you. They'll reset the lights, take it on a road test and then say they were unable to duplicate the issue..

Sorry.. I have a bad attitude about the extended warranty process.

Wow, and to think you guys will complain bitterly about service at a Dealership but you will bring it right back to them.

Anyway, dont worry about the dealer. With ABS systems disco twos they are more straightforward then the older ones. The older ones were prone to have alot of codes and you end up clearing the codes and test driving it to see what shakes. On the Disco twos, you get one code and pretty much gives you the answer. About the only time you might have a problem if the SLS module magically switches over to air ride for no apparent reason. If there is a code in there for a wheel speed sensor along with the changeover it might get lost and then when they drive it they get no codes.

the biggest problem you might have is the warrantee company and what they will and wont pay for. For one they may not pay for new parts. They may only want use parts. Or they may only pay a part of the labor. For example seventy dollars an hour and you pick up the rest. They will probably want to send an inspector and that will take time. LR certified is the best to go. But even they sometimes can be a pain. Also too is alot of companies wont pay for a broken wire diag but they will pay the same amount for repair with a part. Go figure.

Anyway relax and do yourself a favor and call periodically to check up on your vehicle so they are aware you are attentive to your vehicle. They will take the time to keep you updated. They will get back to you sooner knowing that you might just call them.

But like I said dont worry.

Sorry to hear everone hates their local LR dealerships. I guess my wife and I are fairly lucky to have the dealer we have. The 2000 D2 always(might take a few trips, but it's under warranty) gets fixed correctly, by mechanics and service writers we know personnally. I go to the parts counter for whatever I need and am treated to paying the same discount that the employees pay! We also don't go into the dealer with a chip on our shoulders expecting to get F'd! I guess you get out of it what you put into it, treat 'em like sh*t, get sh*t on, or we're just lucky to have the dealer here that we do!

Good point, but most of the time when i treat them nice, I get treated like shit in return, but when Im a complete ass to them and complain about certain things I get a loaner vehicle and store credit....I never get that shit by being nice.....

LOL...Thats not acceptable....The last time at the stealership I was so mad and talking to the manager over some stuff I almost got a RR or LR3 for a loaner. He said he would do it to make it up to me if he could but that he could not do that...I told him "you are the manager, make it happen."
