Default Dealership offered 100K warranty, worth it?

I recently bought a 2002 Discovery SD (36k miles) and it has the remainder of the factory warranty plus the certfied warranty which means I get about 19 more months of warranty. I am going to talk to the lady from the dealership today about extending the warranty out to 100K miles. What is a fair price for that type of warranty and is it worth it? Is there any haggle room on warranty prices or is teh standing price the only price. I know there are aftermarket warranties but if I spend the money I would prefer to get it through Land Rover.

I appreciate all input.

Just to give you an idea, my '01 DII is in the shop now. ABS, TCS & HDC lights are on. It could be the brake modulator that is bad. If so, the part alone is around $1,500.00 and I've only got 70,000 miles on the truck. Looking back, I could have gotten the extended warranty for $2,000.00, wish I had of done it. Just my .02 worth.

It will pay for itself... I have a warranty on our 2000 Discovery and it paid for itself after the first visit to the dealer. Same thing with the ABS, TCS & HDC. Just last week it saved us over $700! I'd say go for it! It's well worth it.

I think we have a conspiracy here. My 03 Disco just went to the shop today. I started driving to work and the Brake, ABS, TCS & HDC lights came on...very, very odd...

For an alternative, check the link on the bottom of my site for warranties.. it's a good company that will insure Rovers, and for a lot less than the Dealer...

The ABS, HDC and TC lights are usually a bad wheel speed sensor. When I still had my Disco one went out at 45,000 miles and was replaced under warranty, and another went out at 53,000 miles and cost me $700+ to get fixed. They are notorious for dying frequently.

I would certainly buy the extended warranty if available. Just make sure what it covers...if it will replace a wheel speed sensor or head gasket it'll probably pay for itself.

BUY BUY BUY BUY
I would buy it from the dealer cuz when I bring my truck in.....I don't wanna hear shit! or get caught between the warranty co and the dealer.
When I was first married I bought a 3 year old BMW 525 and a warranty till 100,000. it was the best money I ever spent!!!!
Jeezzzzze...could I have cramed any more smilies in there.

BUY!

Here's list of post-warranty problems I had with my D-2

Intake manifold water leak - $1500.00
2 Idler Pullies - replaced myself but parts were like $160 or so.
1 Tensioner Pully - replaced myself but part was like $100.
2 - Driver's side window regulators replaced - parts about $200 (replaced myself).
MAF - about $350 parts and labor.
Purge Valve about $200 parts and labor.
2 trips for reset of the ABS/TC/HDC lights.
Motor Mount, about $200 with parts and labor.
Driveshaft U-Joints, about $250 parts and labor.
Exaust pipe flange on driver's side broke away from the pipe. I had it rewelded for cheap but I'd hate to see what a new one would have costs. Probably 4-500 bucks I'd guess with dealer ripoff rates.

Add this all up, about $3400....way more than the warranty would have been.
