Thumbs down Death of my Disco

Well....I am trolling for sympathy. I killed my 300tdi.
I have been very careful with it,gentle even, especialy off roading.I am the king of preventitive maintenance and have an affinity with the 300tdi as it was the last "Land Rover" Diesel put into the Disco & Defender.
I Love that engine..However that apparently didn't matter when I stuffed the nose of the Disco into a pit of mud leaving the disco with mud and water 1 ft over the hood/bonnet.Being land rover put the engine air intake in the front fender well (Thanks guy's great FUC*ING idea) it digested quite a bit of rubbish. Water/mud through the air intake-through the air filter-through the turbo-into and completely clogging the intercooler and onward to the big unit. Shit!!!!!
I replaced the intercooler with a new Ali-sport(50% bigger) and with a safari snorkle fitted I felt like I was invinceable. But the damage was already done..I.E con rod etc... etc...
You want to know the worst bit.....???.....if I was more cautious about how I approached the Mud bogg on the off road course this all could have been avoided. In reality this was 100% my fault.
It's not LR's fault I am a moron and realisticaly the air intake is fine where its at as there is no other place for it realy.
The good news is I have found a new motor for it.You can check it out on this web...[url]www.mdengineering.co.uk[url].It is a 2.5 international power torque and is quite a suitable replacement as you can see from the new engine spec. It will cost me an Arm and a Leg but will be worth it. My sugestion to everyone is please for the love of god please if you do any wading get a snorkle!!!! It is most useful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first time you drive your new International engine will be the last time you bemoan the loss of the 300 Tdi. Be careful not to gush too much or wifey will think you planned it all along.
You said 2.5, but you do mean the 2.8 TdGV Powerstroke, don't you? 270 lbft of torque means you can stuff the nose into the mud twice as far next time, so get that raised air intake soon.

Yes you are absolutely right. I meant to say 2.8. I put in the snorkle on the day of the disaster, after the fact though. My indie guy says it will take several days to do.I cant wait.

Wow are the lights folded back from the force of you entering that mud pit?!

Hey Series3guy, hindsight is a wonderfull thing. We all have moments that we regret, sometimes we get away without anything that major happening sometimes we don't. As long as we learn from our mistakes bam it's worth it. Sorry to hear about your tough luck, but it sounds like everything is going to work out great. Hang in there.

Hey look at it this way. Once everything is all fixed and running these kind of "incidents" make for good stories to share with friends while enjoying a few pints!
