That mud puddle is called the Soup Bowl at the beginning of Falls Dam. And he didn't do shit I hate to say it.

A.)The soup bowl has a hard compacted bottom, as long as you keep touching bottom you shouldn't have any problems.

B.)In the video it isn't even halfway full. The water usually is all the way out to the fence.

C.)He didn't go through the mud pit, he cut across it. Where the person standing video taping is the real exit. You are supposed to drive straight through it and out the rutted exit. A video from my 2nd to last trip to Uwharrie showing how you are supposed to drive through it, not friggn cut across it:

(Beginning of video until 1:20 when the video cuts off short of me finishing making it out)

Here is a picture for reference too. Cutting to the left bypassing the rutted exit isn't going through the pit. Sorry.

The trail we went on was supposed to be Easy but ended up being a bit too much for the CR-V and Forester about 6 miles into the trail.
The trail he was on is Falls Dam, its a trail I have done stock in my truck (on 235 street tires) and seen many stock trucks do (including stock Rovers). If the truck can't do essentially the easiest trail out there, it didn't do shit. It is actually quite sad, and a testament to how crappy the CR-Vs are.

If the CR-V can't make it up Falls Dam which is rated easy, how could it dream of doing any of the actually difficult trails. Say Daniel? Or Dutch John even.

If you still think Uwharrie is for pussies you are more than welcome to come out and ride with us. Or just ask UltraViolet, he can tell you.

I'm thinking about going to uwharrie with my friend and his rubicon this winter. So maybe we can all meet up or plan something when the time comes.

Let me know when you plan on heading out. Just remember Uwharrie is closed from December 15th till it re-opens April 1st.

If you are looking to do some wheeling around Christmas Callalantee in TN should be open. Its about 2 and 1/2 hours from me, so if your coming from the south it would be about an hour more trip than going to Uwharrie.

I don't know if I will be making a run this month, but I plan on being out there in September, October, and possibly November if the Thanksgiving run to Callalantee doesn't work out. And then of course in December for the last run of the year before it closes.

i thought wolfden was the easiest trail there?

went to uwharrie this past weekend and had a friend with a month old honda pilot follow me - he was ADAMANT that his car was built for offroading. About 30mins into some light trails he incurred about $2k in damage. Still ADAMANT that his car is built for light offroading

Wolfs Den is the easiest trail out there, and from there Falls Dam is the next easiest which the mud pits are located on. If the vehicle can't handle Wolfs Den which a car can nearly do it shouldn't be on the trails at all.

I love it when people think that if the water is dirty then it is a mud pit. Any SUV could drive through dirty water with a hard bottom unless its three feet deep. Put that CR-V in a 10x10 foot peanutbutter style mud pit thats one foot deep and he would need to be pulled out, unless he gets one hell of a running start.

Matter of fact even with a running start there is no way he would make it up wet red clay on a 10% incline.
