Default European Plates

Found this great place to get custome Euro Plates made for our trucks. CHEAP too!...

http://www.europeanplates.com/licenseplates.htm

I already got one with JCZ96D1 but im not happy with it...not with the plate, with the letters I chose.

I want to get another one but before I do, I have one question...

What's the difference between a Yellow GB plate and a White GB Plate?

My next plate will definately be perfect! I have chosen 01001010 for it!..That way, anyone on the forums will know its me when I come into town!..haha

That might be neat if I end up with a defender!

By the way. How's your defender search going?

Yellow is for the rear, white is for the front. I have a white one on the front of my truck, I need to find a place that makes the square plates so I have one for the rear.

One problem with that site, they're not using the right font for the GB plate. Try this site: www.licenseplates.tv. They're a bit more expensive, but their plates use the right font for the country you're buying a plate from (mostly).

The first lot look bugger all like British plates the second lot do but the GB bit on the side in blue is not common to explain British plates (pre 2001)

yellow rear

White front (as felix has said)

an example would be AHH 612Y

The first letter "A" is a random prefix

The second and third letters "HH" are the area code (Carlisle in this case)

the 3 numbers "612" have no meaning except for identificcation purposes.

The last letter (affix) "Y" is the year of registration in this case 1982/3
The last letter ranges from A-Y each being valid for one year (K=1972 V=1980 etc)
The registration year ran from june to june so A "Y" registration car could be a late 82 or early 83

The letters I,O,U,Z where never used as affix letters as they could be mis read as numbers

Q was used for Kit cars and/or vehicles built from components or those without proof of year of manufacture.

in 1983 the registrations where reversed (as we ran out of affix letters)

an example is "C672 AHH"

Now the first letter is the year of registration (85/86)
The numbers have the same meaning
the 2 nd letter is random "A"
"HH" again being the area code again Carlisle.

The area code for Solihull (landrover factory area) was AC
many of the prototype final build discoverys were registered G*** WAC
also many camel trophy vehicles (disco/110/RR) carried GWAC's

So for the authentic LR number plate GWACS are the ones or at least the best known ones associated with Landrover
